Date & Deadline Calculator
Deadlines rarely care about your weekend plans. This date calculator counts calendar days or US business days, can skip common federal holidays, and can add or subtract days from a start date for shipping, forms, and project planning.
Last reviewed July 30, 2026.
When to use this
- Estimating delivery windows that exclude weekends
- Adding “10 business days” to a filing or notice date
- Counting how many days remain until a deadline
Worked example
From Friday, January 2, 2026 to Monday, January 5, 2026 there is 1 business day (the Monday), if weekends are skipped. Adding 1 business day to that Friday also lands on Monday the 5th.
Common mistakes
- Assuming every employer or court uses the same holiday calendar
- Counting the start day when a contract says “within N days after”
- Forgetting that observed holidays may move to Friday or Monday
How it works
Calendar days are the difference between start-of-day timestamps. Business days step forward or backward skipping Saturdays, Sundays, and—when enabled—a simplified set of US federal holidays with weekend observation.
How to use
- Choose start and end dates to count days between them.
- Toggle US federal holiday skipping for business-day math.
- Or enter a positive/negative day offset to project a new date.
FAQ
Which holidays are skipped?
When enabled, common US federal holidays are skipped, with weekend observation (Saturday→Friday, Sunday→Monday) in a simplified model.
Is the end date included?
We count the number of day-steps from start to end (the difference in dates), which matches everyday “days until” usage.
Can I exclude only weekends but keep holidays?
Yes—turn off the federal holiday option and business-day mode will skip weekends only.
Does this handle time zones?
Dates are treated as local calendar dates without times of day.
