Hours & Time Card Calculator

Weekly timesheets should not need a spreadsheet. Enter each day’s start, end, and unpaid break. The calculator totals clocked time, splits regular vs overtime after a weekly threshold, and can estimate gross pay from an hourly rate.

Overnight shifts (end before start) wrap past midnight. Breaks are unpaid. Overtime math is an estimate—not payroll or legal advice.

When to use this

  • Filling a paper or PDF timesheet from clock times
  • Checking overtime after a 40-hour week
  • Estimating gross pay before you invoice

Five eights with a lunch break

09:00–17:00 with a 30-minute unpaid break is 7.5 hours per day, 37.5 for five days. No overtime if the threshold is 40. Overnight 22:00–06:00 is eight hours wrapping past midnight.

Common mistakes

  • Forgetting unpaid lunch, which inflates hours
  • Treating the overtime estimate as legal advice—rules vary by employer and location
  • Entering 5:00 instead of 17:00 for an afternoon end time

How it works

Each row is converted to minutes. If end is earlier than start, the shift is treated as overnight. Break minutes are subtracted. Hours over the weekly overtime threshold are multiplied by the OT rate for paid-hour estimates.

How to use

  1. Enter start, end, and unpaid break for each day.
  2. Set overtime-after hours and multiplier if you need OT.
  3. Optionally enter an hourly rate for a gross-pay estimate.
