Compress PDF
Email gateways and application portals often reject large PDFs. This compressor rebuilds your file locally to strip some excess structure. Gains vary: text-heavy files may shrink modestly; already-optimized or image-heavy PDFs may need image compression first.

Files stay on your device
Compression runs locally by rebuilding the PDF. Heavily image-based PDFs may need image compression first.
When to use this
- Getting under a 10 MB or 25 MB email attachment limit
- Uploading to a job or school portal with a strict size cap
- Quickly rebuilding a PDF that was saved inefficiently
What to expect
A text statement might drop a noticeable amount after rebuild. A 40 MB scan of photos may barely move—compress those images first, then build a new PDF.
Common mistakes
- Expecting miracles on already-compressed image PDFs
- Confusing “compress” with “delete pages” (use Split for that)
- Uploading sensitive PDFs to unknown online compressors when local processing is available
How it works
We load the PDF in-browser and re-save it with object streams enabled. That can reduce redundancy. It is not a lossy image recompressor—pair with the image compressor for photo-heavy files.
How to use
- Drop a PDF.
- Click Compress & download.
- Check the reported size change and retry with image tools if needed.

FAQ
Will every PDF get much smaller?
Not always. Already-optimized files may shrink only a little. Image-heavy PDFs often benefit more from compressing images first.
Is quality reduced?
This pass focuses on structural recompression, not aggressively re-encoding every image at low quality.
Do you keep a copy of my file?
No. Work stays in your browser session.
What if the file is encrypted?
Unlock it first with an owner-authorized method, then compress.
